Happy Wednesday
Hope your day is going well. On the job-search front, if you're not hearing back from companies, it could be a couple of things. First, about 75% of resumes are blocked by HR
software filters. For tips on getting past those, see our free w@h Job Search Learning Units.
Second, don't forget that old standby: check your spam or junk and "promotions" folders, depending on what kind of email client you've got.
Third, many companies include (often in a smaller font) a note that they will only reply to candidates they're interested in. Watch for that language so you at least know the framework behind the curtain.
"Always Be Growing..."
More and more people want to work from home. To be competitive, gain new skills whenever you can, and network, network, network.
Free online courses abound. For thought-starters, check Coursera, Udacity (that's a Forbes article for background), and Udemy. Even Harvard has some freebies.
For networking tips, this article gives some good fundamentals.
On the open-jobs scene, if you're looking for a no-experience-necessary slot, this side gig might fit. It's called "voice writing." If you've got a clear speaking voice and you listen well, check it
out. No state hiring restrictions mentioned. You'd be listening to a speaker and repeating what you hear. Voice recognition software then creates captions from what you're saying. Click here for details.
